op1 8k v2: info shows only zeros, but dump has real data #1

I tried it on my op1 8k v2 and info shows only zeros

setup

  • mouse: op1 8k v2, wired, usb id 3367:1978
  • egctl: 0.2.0, commit 58c9ff6, built with cargo
  • os: nixos unstable, kernel 6.18.54
  • run with sudo

the problem

info says firmware 0.0, all dpi at 0, and every button on "mouse left". the mouse works fine though, all buttons and dpi behave normally. egctl dpi prints CPI 1: 0.

what i noticed

the dump isn't empty, so i guess the data is read fine but parsed at the wrong offsets:

  • 40 06 at 0x40 looks like 1600, which is probably my dpi
  • right after,
